Il collettivo BATNA - Best Alternative To Nude Attitude - nasce Torino nel 2011 dall’idea di alcuni studenti neolaureati presso l’Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti.
I primi anni di attività ci vedono approcciarci cariche di sogni ed energie al mondo della moda, affiancando al design e alla produzione di capi prét-a-portér e haute couture una ricerca artistica ulteriore che trova espressione nella produzione fashion film e fashion performance.
Le nostre competenze spaziano dalla sartoria al fashion and shoes design, alla video arte, alla fotografia, al set and costume design, e proprio questo essere eterogeneo ci permette di rielaborare l'idea di passerella proponendo i prodotti della nostra ricerca attraverso un format performativo, nel quale il concetto di fashion show spazia andando ad abbracciare l'idea di performance artistica, atto creativo che risponde ad un bisogno di andare oltre il fashion e di lavorare creativamente e parallelamente anche tramite l'arte concettuale oltre che attraverso le collezioni. Numerosi e di successo sono gli eventi organizzati nell’ambiente underground torinese così come le collaborazioni con artisti performativi attivi nella nostra città, tra il 2011 e il 2016.
Nel 2017, una profonda riflessione sui nostri obiettivi ci porta ad una svolta: il pensiero di spostare la focale e cominciare a immaginare una linea di abbigliamento pensata per chi lavora. Praticamente l’opposto dell’idea del capo unico, artisticamente carico di significato ma poco indossabile nella quotidianità, che fino a quel momento avevamo creato.
L’idea è quella di fare abbigliamento nel senso più radicale del termine ovvero progettando e confezionando capi da indossare tutto il giorno e tutti i giorni. I concetti di divisa e uniforme ci appassionano ed ispirano dal primo momento e così a gennaio 2017 BATNA lancia la sua nuova linea di work-wear, creata per rispondere alle esigenze di realtà lavorative che prevedono l'utilizzo di un capo accessorio allo svolgimento di un'attività specifica.
The BATNA collective - Best Alternative To Nude Attitude - was born in Turin in 2011 from the idea of some recent graduate students at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts.
The first years of activity saw us approaching the world of fashion, full of dreams and energy, alongside the design and production of prét-a-portér and haute couture garments a further artistic research that finds expression in the production of fashion films and fashion performances.
Our skills and expertise range from tailoring, fashion and shoe design to video art, photography, set and costume design. This diversity allows us to use the catwalk as a showcase through the use of performance.
Through this, the concept of the fashion show expands to include the art of performance, a creative act that responds to the need to go beyond fashion and to work creatively, in parallel with conceptual art as well as through the collections.
Numerous and successful are the events organized in Turin underground as well as collaborations with performative artists active in our city, between 2011 and 2016.
In 2017, a deep reflection on our goals brings us to a turning point: the thought of moving the focus and starting to imagine a line of clothing designed for those who work. Practically the opposite of the idea of the single garment, artistically full of meaning but not wearable in everyday life, which until then we had created.
The idea is to make clothing in the most radical sense of the term by designing and packaging garments to wear all day and every day.
The concepts of uniform and uniform excite and inspire us from the first moment and so in January 2017 BATNA launches its new work-wear line, created to meet the needs of of all those companies that plan to use uniforms, aprons or accessorizes.
